Greenwich Insurance Company, a member of XL Capital, Ltd., is rated A (Excellent) VX by AM Best. The Greenwich policy form offers a number of unique features that make it an attractive option for lawyers and law firms nationwide. Consider the following:
- Input into the selection of defense counsel;
- Consent to settle clause;
- Broad definition of covered "Professional Services" including in addition to services rendered as a lawyer those performed in the following capacities:
- Member of a bar association, ethics, peer review, accreditation, licensing or other similar board, committee or organization;
- Fiduciary, i.e., administrator, conservator, guardian, receiver, executor, trustee or similar fiduciary capacity, so long as such services are performed in connection with an incidental to the practice of law;
- Arbitrator or mediator;
- Presenter, publisher or author of legal research papers or articles;
- Notary Public; and
- Title Agent.
- Supplemental coverages including:
- Coverage of up to $500 per attorney per day for earnings lost due to attendance at a trial, hearing or arbitration of a claim, subject to a maximum of $5,000 per claim and $25,000 for the entire policy period;
- $30,000 coverage for the defense of disciplinary proceedings; and
- Innocent insured exception to the intentional acts exclusion;
- Up to 10% ownership allowance as an exception to the outside interests exclusion;
- 30-day claims reporting grace period;
- Extended Reporting Period ("tail coverage") endorsement options for 1, 3, 5 and 7 year periods calculated at 100%, 185%, 225% and 250% of expiring premium, respectively.
- Free tail coverage for sole practitioners who:
- have been insured with XL for at least 4 consecutive years and have attained at least 55 years of age;
- become totally and permanently disabled during the policy period; or
- pass away during the policy period;
