In today's knowledge-based economy, intellectual property (IP) risk is a constant concern for most companies. With the number and cost of IP disputes on the rise prudence would dictate careful attention to measures aimed toward blunting the effect of such litigation.
While a standard Commercial Package policy may offer some limited protection from IP exposures, a stand-alone policy aimed specifically at such risks is preferable. Such policies fall into two basic categories: first-party property ownership risk and third-party liability risk which may arise out of allegations of infringement and the like.
