Attorneys » New Disclosure Rules for California Lawyers?

In the August 2006 issue of the California Bar Journal, the State Bar of California Insurance Disclosure Task Force released it recommendations that uninsured lawyers in private practice must disclose the absence of insurance in writing to their clients. It was also recommended that all lawyers in private practice must disclose annually to the State Bar whether they have insurance, and that information would be made publicly available so prospective clients could ascertain whether an individual lawyers is insured.

This new proposed regulatory environment would likely make it increasingly difficult for uninsured practitioners to attract and retain quality clientele.
